Speech Therapy Services
Our Speech Language Pathologists provide support to children and their families in the areas of language development, phonological development, articulation, stuttering, oral-motor skills, feeding issues, voice disorders, and other communication problems. These areas may include improving and working on sound production, communication skill development (including sign language, PECS, visual schedules, and augmentative communication devices)increasing feeding, swallowing, and/or oral-motor skills. We perform in depth assessments along with parental input to determine effective and useful treatment plans to maximize the child's functional skills.
Occupational Therapy Services
Our Occupational Therapists work with families to help their children learn to take care of themselves. These services may include basic self-care skills such as feeding themselves, dressing, brushing teeth, brushing hair, bathing and organizing play. To accomplish those goals, occupational therapy can focus on methods of paying attention,m self-calming developing, eye-hand coordination, whole body coordination and body awareness and comfort. We may also assist in learning cooperative play and other learning problems.
Our therapists utilize sensory-integration techniques, NDT training, astronaut training, alert training, brushing protocols and handwriting programs. The OT may be involved in the selection of adaptive equipment for positioning or daily living skills.
Physical Therapy Services
Our Physical Therapists provide support for children to gain or regain functional independence. This may include gross motor development, which involves strength, muscle tone, range and quality of movement, motor planning and visual motor skills. Therapy also focuses on walking, balance and coordination skills. For very young children, it may involve working on developmental skills such as rolling, sitting, creeping, crawling and positioning for feeding or other activities. The physical therapist may also be involved in selection and ordering of seating, mobility or other adaptive equipment.
